The PCI Express Backplane is engineered to support a variety of modern PCI Express board production testing and debugging needs. It extends the Host computer into four x16 PCI Express slots via 10 ft. CAT7 data and 10-pin flat power control cables. Both the backplane and UUTs (Units Under Test, i.e., add-in PCI Express boards) are powered by a standard ATX power supply connected through 24- and 8-pin connectors on the backplane.

- Broad Compatibility: Four PCI Express slots support Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 speeds (2.5 Gbit/sec, 5 Gbit/sec, and 8 Gbit/sec). Two slots offer a four-lane PCI Express interface, while two provide a 16-lane interface. Both 16-lane slots can handle bifurcation-based configurations, such as x8/x8 or x4/x4/x4/x4 setups.
- Host Connection Options: An x1 PCI Express Gen 2 interface links the backplane to the Host computer. Host boards are available in three variants: PCI Express, MiniPCI Express, and ExpressCard®.
- Efficient Testing: The backplane supports simultaneous testing of up to four PCI Express boards. Real-time power and connection status can be monitored via a USB terminal during testing. Each slot features overvoltage and overcurrent protection, safeguarding both the UUT and testing equipment.
- Hot-Swap Functionality: Replace UUTs without powering down the Host computer, significantly reducing testing downtime.
- Advanced Debugging and Programming: Provides direct access to PCI Express bus JTAG signals for connection to JTAG emulators or the Amfeltec’s eLoader™ in-circuit programmer/loader, facilitating UUT internal component programming before or during testing.
