Squid Carrier Board™ Family
PCI Express Gen 3 Carrier Board for six M.2 or NGSFF (NF1) PCIe SSD modules
PCI Express Gen 3 Carrier Board for six M.2 or
NGSFF (NF1) PCIe SSD modules
Overview:
- The six-module PCI Express carrier board is the fastest carrier board on the market. It utilizes the full bandwidth of the 16-lane PCI Express Gen 3 upstream interface.
- Unique full-height PCIe carrier board for six M.2 or NGSFF (NF1) PCIe SSD modules.
- Compatible with any motherboard; doesn’t require motherboard bifurcation.
- Easy “Plug & Play” installation, no drivers needed.
- Supports any type of M.2 or NGSFF (NF1) PCIe SSD modules (M-key)
- Supports module dimensions: 80 mm or 110 mm length; up to 32 mm width.
- Standard one-slot-wide PCI Express board (US Pat. 9,996,494; additional patents pending).
- x16 or x8 PCIe Gen 3 (8.0 Gbps) upstream connection to the motherboard.
- x4 PCI Express Gen 3 (8.0 Gbps) connection to each of the six M.2 circuits.
- Real-time performance and temperature monitoring via USB connection.
- Easily removable cooling fans; fan speed control.
- Compliant with PCIe Specification 3.0 and M.2 Specification 1.1.
- Open concept: effective heat dissipation & easy SSD module installation.
– 202.65 x 111.15 mm (with fan)
This Squid PCIe Carrier board can support up to six M.2 or NGSFF (NF1) PCIe SSD (solid state drive) modules, with M-key. Supported module dimensions are 2280 or 22110 in length, and a width of up to 32 mm. SSD modules of any capacity may be used, from any vendor, and in any combination.
The open-concept design of our Squid Carrier Board family has the following main advantages:
- Easy SSD module installation/replacement. When fewer than six modules are installed, users can easily add additional modules or replace existing ones with better alternatives, as desired (faster ones or with higher capacity).
- When the carrier board is installed in a computer chassis with powerful cooling fans (e.g., PC servers, Mac Pro 2019), the two cooling fans that the carrier board comes with can easily be disconnected and removed, in order to:
- Minimize noise;
- Avoid blocking the chassis fan’s airflow.
In a computer chassis where cooling airflow is poor, the two carrier board fans will improve airflow to the carrier board.
The operating system recognizes each module as an individual hard disk and can combine them as a RAID.
The six-module PCI Express carrier board is the fastest carrier board on the market. It utilizes the full bandwidth of the 16-lane PCI Express Gen 3 upstream interface.
This is a one-slot-wide carrier board, as are all products in the Squid Carrier Board™ Family. It is based on our patented architecture where the carrier board is in the middle of the PCI express slot, and connects to the motherboard PCI express connector by exchangeable x16 or x8 PCI Express upstream adapters (US Pat. 9,996,494; additional patent pending).
PCI Express Carrier board is compliant with PCI Express Specification 3.0 and M.2 Specification 1.1.
